A beautiful chapel, so peaceful, and everything so beautifully designed. The wonderful glass images of the creation story, the modern wooden cross, the beautiful open beams... There are also peace candles you can light for 50 cents, and a wonderful candlestick. There's also a book on the sandstone altar where you can write something. Simply beautiful and harmonious.

The village chapel on the edge of the hamlet of Poppenholz was built by the residents of the Rugendorf district themselves. The wayside chapel was ecumenically consecrated in 2024 and is intended to serve as a place of rest for passing hikers, as two designated hiking trails intersect at the chapel. Five properties and 27 residents began building their own chapel after work and on weekends – partly at their own expense. The foundation stone was laid in September 2023, and the topping-out ceremony took place just over a month later. The inauguration took place on October 27, 2024. The entrance to the chapel has been redesigned in the shape of a chalice. The seven stained-glass pictures by 82-year-old artist Wilfried Radtke from Rugendorf are worth seeing. They depict the creation of the world in seven days. A modern carved cross by Thomas Wechselberger is the eye-catcher upon entering the chapel.

A beautiful multi-generational playground has been created here in the heart of Stadtsteinach. Even grown-ups will find something here to simply be kids again! Plenty of seating, which is wonderfully shaded, especially in summer.
