Visible from afar, the Bebra Water Tower today recalls the past history of the railway town and Bebra station as a hub and also as a border station during the division of Germany. A narrow-gauge railway line was built around the tower – which is lovingly cared for by the Bebra Railway Friends. The water tower itself houses a railway museum. https://museen-in-hessen.de/de/museen/eisenbahnmuseum_bebra https://ef-bebra.de/

The church in Weiterode, built in the 13th century, of which the choir tower is the oldest part, has undergone several renovations over the years. Along with the roof reconstruction, the ceiling was decorated with paintings in the Peasant Baroque style. The church is one of the Peasant Baroque churches found in the region and is therefore well worth a visit. The former court linden tree stands in the square in front of the church. https://www.kirchen-paedagogik.de/Broschuere_Bauern-Barock-Kirchen_Download_NEU.pdf

Of the originally Romanesque fortified church, the tower and chancel arch wall are still preserved after its reconstruction in the first half of the 18th century. The nave was rebuilt and its interior was decorated with rich paintings in the peasant Baroque style. This makes the church one of the 100 most beautiful village churches in Germany. Please DO NOT use a flash when taking photos inside – out of respect for the paintings!

There's shade here in the afternoon (June). It's quite pleasant in hot weather.

The MonteKali in Heringen is the spoil dump of the local potash mine and, together with the spoil dump in Phillipsthal a few kilometers away, gave the region the name "Land of the White Mountains." The mountain is a good photo subject from any angle.
