The approximately six-and-a-half-meter-high cross was made from a fallen black locust tree from the Karlsruher Oberwald. It weighs around one ton and had to be erected with the help of a crane. The municipal forest workers created and elaborately decorated it with loving handiwork. The summit cross is held by a roughly four-ton base plate, which gives the structure the necessary stability against storms and gusts.

Beautiful sandy beach - good for swimming here, if the beach isn't underwater due to high water levels 😉

Very large excavated lake in the Rhine floodplains - the largest in Baden-Württemberg. Great hiking trails and all kinds of water sports. Accessible by large cargo ships via a navigable connection to the Rhine. Interesting history: in the early 1930s, gravel wasn't being excavated yet, but gold - the Nazis were searching for the legendary Rhine gold here. However, the yield was so low that they switched to gravel excavation after a few years.

You can see towards Karlsruhe through a gap in the trees. Since the viewpoint is not very high, the view is rather unspectacular. There is also a relaxing lounger here.

Summit cross on the highest point in the Karlsruhe district. This is located at an altitude of 323 meters, not far from the Wettersbach radio tower. The cross, approximately six and a half meters high, was made from a fallen black locust tree from the Karlsruhe Oberwald forest.

The Ettlingen-West district, where the Liebfrauen Parish Church is located, was founded in the 1920s, expanded shortly before World War II, and grew rapidly after 1945 as a result of the influx of refugees from Silesia, East Prussia, Pomerania, and the Baltic States. The Catholics in the settlement belonged to the Sacred Heart Parish and had to walk long distances to attend services. In 1953, the Sacred Heart Parish began construction of an emergency church on Lindenweg, which was completed in 1954. It provided space for 230 worshippers. This emergency church soon became too small for the steadily growing number of Catholics, and so on May 12, 1963, the foundation stone was laid for a new, modern church, which would accommodate 700 worshippers, on the site at the corner of Lindenweg and Mörscher Straße. The new church was consecrated and dedicated by Dean Ludwig Holtermann on October 25, 1964, and consecrated by Archbishop Dr. Hermann Schäufele on July 11, 1965.
