There used to be a cable car here to transport the basalt from the Sebbel for crushing. This was dismantled in the early 1960s. Parts of the supporting cable were then used in a milk cable car in Nausis, which has now also been dismantled

The place was first mentioned in documents in 1907, when the Knüllwaldbahn line was inaugurated. Passenger traffic was discontinued on June 1, 1984, and freight traffic at the end of 1995.

The quarry was originally put into operation by the company Dolorit Basalt AG during the construction of the Knüllwald railway from Treysa to Bad Hersfeld in 1904, but was closed again in 1936 after the deposits had been exploited and left to nature.
