... The first mention of Alsdorf dates back to 1248. At that time, a nobleman named "Wilhelm vom Amilardisdorp" was mentioned as a witness in a deed of gift to the Marienstatt monastery. A copy of this document is now kept in the Alsdorfer Bürgerhaus. The first settlements to be mentioned are primarily the area in front of the Arsberg and the Alsberg.
