Close your eyes, make a wish, walk around the tree forward 3 times and backward 3 times, and then enjoy your wish fulfilled 🤗 (Be careful of the large roots and please don't fall while doing this 😱) Mighty tree that is a natural monument.

A bit of a shame to see, if you walk about 10 minutes further there is a beautiful view of the sea.

Hike from the top (accessible by car/taxi) and descend to the Pinhal Reserve picnic area. At the end, there's a rest area with restrooms and a characteristic windmill. Hiking shoes required; the trail is well-marked but slippery in places. Beautiful views along the entire route.

Fascinating lagoon on Pico Island, reached by bus via ER 3-2, with parking nearby, or on foot via PR 13. At 826 meters above sea level, it offers views of unique fauna, as well as Pico Mountain ( which is typically surrounded by clouds).

Twisted junipers of quite advanced age. An environmental treasure of Pico Island, not only because it is a stunning tree, but because it is particularly difficult to find in a large group like this. It deserves a stop.

This dirt path runs parallel to the trail to the Caiado and Seca lagoons. From this point, you have a breathtaking view of Santo Amaro and Prainha. Good stopping point to admire the fascinating landscape.

Pico Island generally welcomes dogs on many trails, but it's always best to check specific regulations for each route, especially within protected natural areas. Always keep your dog on a leash, carry waste bags, and ensure they are well-behaved around other hikers and wildlife. The Captain's Lagoon – Lagoa do Caiado loop from São Roque do Pico is a popular choice for families and often suitable for dogs.
Pico Island enjoys a mild and consistent climate year-round, with temperatures typically ranging between 14°C and 21°C. This makes hiking enjoyable in any season.
