Instead of following the big trail, just take bear canyon trail and start to enjoy the wilderness from the start. This crossing must be avoided when the water level is high.

If you want to get into Tucson, this junction is the perfect spot to leave the Arizona Trail. Hike into Sabino Canyon and take the shuttle that gets you to the outskirts of Tucson.

At this junction you can decide which way to go. Hiking to East and West Fork gets you deep into the Santa Catalina Mountains via Sabino Canyon. If you want to stroll along the ridge and back to Tucson, take the Blakett's Ridge Trail. If you come from the Santa Catalina Mountains, it is just a .5 mile descend to the shuttle stop.
