First, a somewhat adventurous ride on the single track to the parking lot, which costs £5. The easy loop around the lake is very beautiful and relaxing – the sheep roam freely, but they keep their distance. Dogs must be on a leash, of course, but that's not a problem. Enjoy it – and if you're up for more, go for a longer loop. There are a few tables and benches above the parking lot for your picnic. You won't find any litter baskets, so you'll have to take them with you – which is perfectly fine, as it's a nature reserve. Highly recommended.

Good loop. I rode up out of Llanuwchllyn. But this ride would work very well starting in Bala. The section up around Arenig is great. A few gates to open/close, one farm to go through....but this is a good alternative to the sadly hobbled Bala Loop (Vyrnwy).

This path is only for mountain biking. Lots of big holes, deep big puddles.

a great castle to explore with views over the se and the Llyn peninsula. It has an informative video that explains its history and then a walk across the bridge that leads you through the fortifications. you can then explore all the rooms that have exhibits of the castles history within them. to finish off you can climb the tower to see the view. Great for kids as there is a park next to it and a cafe across the bridge to keep everyone happy. Parking is available on site but it is a small carpark.

For the circular route around Allt-lwyd there are some boulder like sections very difficult on a gravel bike on the north side climb. I’d recommend using the other south side of the hill for the climb (tarmac to top) and at least the worst sections can be done downhill. You’ll still have one tricky uphill bit though. Can get wet w/ deep puddles after extended rain.

The highlight is the crossing of the Mawddach estuary on the new bridge, we went on a very windy day and it was tough
