The PSD Bank Dome (proper spelling: PSD BANK DOME, previously ISS Dome) is a multifunctional hall in the northern district of Rath in the North Rhine-Westphalian state capital of Düsseldorf. The Düsseldorf architectural firm RKW Architektur + Städtebau was responsible for the design planning. The foundation stone was laid on May 19, 2005; The total construction costs were almost 70 million euros (including the parking garage). The PSD Bank Dome was opened on September 2, 2006. The hall offers space for 14,282 spectators for home games of the Düsseldorf ice hockey club Düsseldorfer EG. It is therefore the second largest event venue in the city of Düsseldorf after the Merkur Spiel-Arena and the fourth largest ice hockey stadium in Germany after Cologne's Lanxess Arena, Berlin's Mercedes-Benz Arena and Mannheim's SAP Arena. Since the upper tier is only opened when there is a sufficient number of visitors, the usual capacity is 8,500 seats. For concerts and other events, the capacity is up to 15,151 spectators. By converting the lower tier seating areas on the north, east and west sides into telescopic stands, around 4,000 standing places are available, a rather unusual facility for a multifunctional hall. Here, the wishes of the fans of the traditional club Düsseldorfer EG were taken into account, whose team has no longer played its home games in the ice stadium on Brehmstrasse since the 2006/07 season, but in the PSD Bank Dome.
