Here, art is connected to a Ford Transit in the form of a concrete sculpture commemorating the first generation of guest workers, who often commuted between Germany and Turkey in such a vehicle. This sculpture was created in 2017 by inmates of the sculpture workshop at Gröpelingen Correctional Facility. The memorial refers to an image that many people still associate with the period following the 1961 Turkish Recruitment Agreement: At the start of the summer holidays, Turkish families regularly set off from their new homeland to their old homeland in minibuses laden with gifts; various cultural objects also traveled across Europe. The sculpture is intended to show that today, the migrants of that time are a part of Bremen and its history.

In earlier times, peat farmers from the Teufelsmoor region used this canal to transport peat to Bremen, where it was highly sought after as a fuel. The unloading point was the Findorff peat port.
