You can take a very nice walk along the Erft. Früher war die Erft die Lebensader der Region — für Landwirtschaft, Mühlen und Menschen. Später veränderte der Braunkohleabbau rund um Frimmersdorf, Garzweiler und Neurath die Landschaft radikal. Flüsse wurden verändert, Grundwasser abgesenkt und ganze Landstriche technisch umgebaut. Auch die Erft ist heute kein völlig natürlicher Fluss mehr. Trotzdem hat dieser Ort für mich bis heute etwas Besonderes.
