From here you have a view of the Vijfhuizer Mill. This mill was built in 1874. It was intended to drain the Vijfhuizerpolder and is no longer in operation. It can still turn. You can visit it by appointment. There used to be an earlier mill here that was built around 1650. However, it burned down on the last day of the year 1859. On the bridge you can see the letters `HMP´. They stand for `hameipoort`, the supporting structure (gate) for the hinges to open and close the drawbridge. (Source: https://liefsuithaarlemmermeer.nl/vijfhuizen/vijfhuizerbrug/ )

In 1972, the name "De Hommel" was invented by the Zaanse miller C. Krijt sr. That is a nice idea, because of the thick and short body, but historically incorrect. In the polder archive, the designation "De Kleine Molen" is always used. The mill drained the Kleine Polder. Source: https://www.molendatabase.nl/molens/ten-bruggencate-nr-01775
