A quiet place of remembrance: The impressive memorial at Minden's North Cemetery commemorates the fallen of the World Wars. Surrounded by mature trees and well-maintained paths, the monument invites you to take a moment of peace. The view through the tree-lined avenue to the stone cross is particularly beautiful.

The Schmieding House is an eye-catcher on Minden's market square. The house, with its richly decorated half-timbered facade, appears considerably older than it actually is. It was built in 1909 by the merchant Hermann Schmieding to replace an inconspicuous predecessor. It is an outstanding monument of historicism, a period when architectural styles from past centuries were almost identically recreated. Incidentally, the historical model for the Schmieding House, the famous butcher's office building in Hildesheim, was completely destroyed in a bombing raid during World War II. What we can admire today in Hildesheim is a faithful replica from the 1980s.

The Old Town Hall in Minden is an impressive historic building that has served as the seat of the city council since 1260. The arcade on the ground floor, dating back to the 13th century, is particularly noteworthy and survived the destruction of World War II. The town hall stands on the market square and is an outstanding example of Gothic architecture in Westphalia. A major renovation was carried out in the 17th century, during which a prestigious Renaissance-style town hall was created. After the war, the town hall was rebuilt, preserving the early Gothic arcade.
