We rode this in the pouring rain and there were so many giant slugs crossing the cycle path! We tried to avoid running them all over, but it was impossible not to squash a few. RIP little buddies.

The lake was artificially created to ensure a sufficient water supply in case the town caught fire. This is no longer necessary, as the fire department has more effective firefighting methods than carrying buckets. However, locals and tourists alike enjoy the lake and the town, and it makes for a very picturesque photo opportunity. A short walk around the lake, including a detour into the town, is also possible for travelers during a stopover. Parking behind the lake is free, unless an event is taking place.
