Tilbury Fort once protected London’s seaward approach from its original construction in the 16th century, right up until the Second World War. Now an English Heritage site, the fort is the very best example of this type of sea defence in the country. As an English Heritage site, you will need to book tickets in advance if you want to pay a full visit during your ride.
