The moated castle was adapted to the needs of its residents through renovations, extensions, and additions. A simple, single-story manor house was built in 1735 and expanded in 1793. A service wing was added in 1851, and a garden terrace and garden parlor were added in 1885. At the beginning of the 20th century, another service wing was added. In the 17th century, the estate passed to the von Krauthoff family as a fief, and around 1660, it passed by inheritance to the von Engel family, who lived here until its expropriation in 1945. After the Second World War, the estate was incorporated into an agricultural cooperative. The manor house served as accommodation for refugees, also housed a village grocery store, and some rooms were used for events. The building later stood empty for many years and fell into disrepair. A new owner has now been found who plans to convert the building into a residential building with workshops and exhibition spaces for artistic creation.
