St. Nicholas' Church is the oldest surviving building in the city and an important example of North German Brick Gothic architecture. The church is named after St. Nicholas of Myra, the patron saint of children, bakers, and sailors, who lived in the 4th century. It was originally built as a fieldstone building in the second half of the 13th century, of which parts of the choir walls and the sacristy still survive. In the 15th century, the church was expanded: the choir received a brick elevation, a large window was added to the east wall, and a three-aisled hall nave was built to the west. The interior features impressive star vaults in the central nave and cross vaults in the side aisles, resting on massive pillars. Today, St. Nicholas' Church serves as a place of worship for the Protestant parish of Kremmen and is an open church that invites visitors to explore and linger.

From the outside the church looks rather rustic, but inside it is very beautiful.
