In the summer, the Klosterhofspiele (Monastery Courtyard Plays) take place in the monastery's inner courtyard. Each year, there's a play for children and usually an entertaining classic for adults. Storks clatter from the roof every now and then during the performance. Tip: Bring a cushion from home.

Langenzenn passed into the possession of the Nuremberg burgraves from the House of Hohenzollern around 1248. The monastery, dedicated to Saint Mary, was founded in 1409 by John III and Frederick VI, burgraves of Nuremberg; it was dissolved in 1533 during the Reformation. The place was first mentioned in 1154/57 as "Brunnen" (Brunn) in a document in which the Heilsbronn Monastery exchanged goods in this and other places for goods in other places. In 1311, the monastery sold its goods to Wolfram von Urach. From 1400 to 1458, the castle was owned by the Lords of Seckendorff, then by the Lords of Lüchau. Brunn Castle was burned down in 1409 (and again in 1501). The core of what is now known as the Old Castle dates from 1525 (the castle was damaged in the Peasants' War) and 1553 (also damaged in the Second Margrave War).

It's also a great ride downhill. The asphalt can be rough at times, so be careful!

The Dachsbach stream is first documented in 1129 – a knight named Heinrich von Dahspach sold one of his properties to the St. Michael's Monastery in Bamberg for 80 silver marks. The place name derives from a watercourse of the same name, the prefix of which may be dahs (Middle High German for "dachs"). Accordingly, it could have referred to a stream where badgers are found.[7] The town's coat of arms also refers to this meaning.
