History Origin and name development Edit According to Karl Weller, Ötisheim is an Alemannic original village, as villages that end in -heim are generally among the oldest places. The clan name that was characteristic of the Alemannic original village has been lost. However, it is assumed that a man named Autines replaced the earlier clan name, as Ötisheim was mentioned in documents as Autinesheim. Accordingly, the origin of Ötisheim can be dated between the 2nd century and the 4th century.[15] Other sources, however, point to a Frankish village, as many Alemannic villages ended in -ingen, which is not the case with Ötisheim. After the victory of the Franks against the Alemanni, around 496, there was a Frankish settlement. During this time, a manorial farm was built, which was the first building in Ötisheim and grew into a village. The field names, such as Großer Brühl, Hofäcker or Hofwiesen were parts of the Fronhof.

The figures probably show two brothers, one of whom saved the other's life when the Erlenbach flooded. Funny story on the side: When we walked past the sculptures with our dog for the first time, our dog was so scared that he tried to bite one of them on the bottom.
