August 13, 2026, Schloss und Wallfahrtskirche Mariastein

The pilgrimage church of Mariastein is located on the top floor of the defensive tower built around 1361 by the Lords of Freundsberg and is accessible via 150 steps. It became an important pilgrimage site through the endowment of a Madonna figure and the so-called Marienwunder (Miracle of Mary). The castle building was constructed in the 15th and 16th centuries as a residential wing and was later expanded together with the church into a place of pilgrimage.

The small municipal area stretches above the Inn Valley (Inntal) east of Innsbruck, at the foot of the Brandenberg Alps. Situated at an altitude of 575 m, Mariastein, nestled in the vast forests along the Inn, is one of the most famous pilgrimage sites in Tyrol.

Quite exceptional to see regular maples here. There are 8 known in Tyrol and are regularly measured and examined.
