Originally, Weißenberg Castle stood on this site. The conversion of the castle into a palace began between 1517 and 1575 under Volker von Volkensdorff. Under Hans Caspar von Volkenstorff, the present Renaissance-style palace was built in front of the old castle. In the 18th century, it passed to the Kremsmünster Abbey. In 1803, Kremsmünster's Abbot Alexander had the old castle, including its fortifications and the Chapel of the Ascension, demolished and a new palace wing built. In the 20th century, several owners followed suit until the Kuthy family acquired the palace from bankruptcy in 1970 and restored it to perfection. Today, it is primarily used for residential purposes and cultural events. Apart from exhibition openings and other cultural events, the palace can only be viewed from the outside.

On the Kremstal cycle path you follow the narrow Krems along its natural banks. Beautiful. In spring and summer the meadows are lush green and in autumn you can enjoy the play of colors of the deciduous trees.
