October 30, 2026, Rocca di Cefalù Castle Ruins

The castle ruins of the Rocca di Cefalù tower over a 268-meter-high limestone cliff directly above the old town of Cefalù in Sicily. The medieval fortress dates mainly from the 12th to 13th centuries, although the mountain has served as a defensive wall since antiquity and the Middle Ages. Halfway up, there is also the megalithic Temple of Diana from the 9th–8th century BC, as well as ancient cisterns and casemates. The path begins near the old town (via Salita Saraceni). The ascent takes about 30 to 50 minutes with around 210–250 meters of elevation gain. At the top, a 360-degree panoramic view of Cefalù, the coast, and the Tyrrhenian Sea awaits you.

Small, very well-kept park at the far end of the historic old town. Very popular with the locals. Nice atmosphere.

April 10, 2026, View of Cefalù

When we were here in early April 2026, we couldn't do the circular trail (closed), but it was possible to walk to the Castel after paying the entrance fee. Definitely worth it, great view
