Trail Reviews

Andreas 🍀🛵
March 31, 2025, Catania 🇮🇹

Arrived from Frankfurt to Catania yesterday. The flight time is two hours. Off the plane, across the tarmac by bus to the terminal, then to baggage claim... and the suitcases are already there 👍 – how do they do that? The flight was fully booked. Then by rental car 🚗 to Acireale, about 15 km north of Catania. Today by train from Acireale to Catania. In my experience, traveling by train in Italy is completely hassle-free. Punctuality, cleanliness of the trains, and easy ticket purchasing via the Trenitalia app make for a pleasant experience. Prices are somewhat cheaper than in Germany. That was the case again today. With approximately 300,000 inhabitants, Catania is the second largest city in Sicily after Palermo. Some streets and towns are very busy, while in others there is hardly anyone to be seen. The historic buildings and public spaces are in good external condition. However, the other houses and streets have obviously not been renovated for some time. 18 degrees Celsius, sunny, light wind. Temperature: Warm
