Archanes lies at the foot of Mount Giouchtas. From up here you can see the entire town all the way to the sea.

The Afendis Christos (second highest peak on the Juchtas) with the church of the same name is a nice excursion destination. The view over half of Crete is impressive. Unfortunately, the many transmission masts again spoil the overall impression. And since you can drive almost up to the top by car, you are rarely alone here.
