Half-timbered houses with bay windows are certainly not something you see very often

At a crossroads on Kreuzbergallee east of the Bonn district of Röttgen (one branch leads down into the Katzenlochbach valley, the other direction leads to the Annaberger Feld viewing platform), hikers encounter this wooden wayside cross, painted red. It has a gabled roof but does not bear the body of the crucified Christ. Instead, a dedicatory inscription can be read on the upper part of the longitudinal beam and on the crossbeam: Erected in honor of Jesus, Mary, Joseph, and the Holy Apostles Matthias and John. PS: Someone has already created this as a hiking highlight at =>> https://www.komoot.com/de-de/highlight/4109195.

Yes, it's useful—or, if you prefer, practical—to know a hiking parking lot as a starting point for your tour, or to find it when planning here in the komoot system. However, I personally imagine something more beautiful as a true "highlight" that would actually deserve the name...

The bank looks new. The signs provide orientation, and in an emergency, you know where you are. It's a shame the photos aren't dated.

We passed the cross at the beginning of June. It was raining, and the rain was getting worse. We couldn't decipher the inscription. Thanks to the hiking brothers for that. A beautiful memorial.
