The beautiful half-timbered house on Mintard's main street once housed a school class. With the introduction of compulsory education in Prussia in 1826, lessons were first held in the half-timbered house at number 17. There was only one class. The money for the teacher was collected from the community members. "In the summer, classes were certainly often canceled because the farmers' children had to work hard at home," writes Wolfgang Slawinski in his book "Spurensuche" (Tracing the Past). By 1902, the little house had become too small. Around 1900, construction began on a new school in the village. Today, only a small sign commemorates its former use.
