The observation tower was built between 1902 and 1903, designed by master builder Ernst Latzel, for the Moravian-Silesian Sudeten Mountains Association (MSSGV) with financial support from the Prince of Liechtenstein. It was opened on June 11, 1903. The original building was 35 meters high, as it had a top that was removed during postwar repairs. (Source: Wikipedia)

The Sloup-21 Column, also known as the Covid Column, is a contemporary monument that was created in the summer of 2021 to commemorate the Covid-19 pandemic. It is a modern version of the traditional plague columns that were built in the past after the end of epidemics, especially the bubonic plague. The Sloup-21 Column is a symbol of solidarity and remembrance of the difficult times associated with the global pandemic. The monument is a reference to historical traditions, but with a modern, minimalist approach to the form. Although it is not as ornate as the classic plague columns, it may contain symbolic elements referring to the fight against the disease, the memory of the victims and hope for the future. It was designed as a reminder of the hard times the world has gone through and as a way to pay tribute to those who died or fought the pandemic. This column was created in the specific context of modern history, in the era of global connectivity and media, which gives it a different character than traditional plague columns. It is a contemporary monument that gains significance as a testimony to the Covid-19 pandemic that is affecting entire generations.

A box from the end of the 19th century. It was entered on the list of cultural monuments in 2007, when it was also restored and equipped with new devices, because the original ones unfortunately did not survive. Inside the box there is a hair hygrometer - a device that shows the current humidity, as well as a thermometer, a barometer - a device for measuring atmospheric pressure and a thermograph, a device that reads the temperature and humidity during the week while simultaneously recording the data on paper. Most likely the oldest preserved product of the Wilhelm Lambrecht company from Göttingen located in the Czech Republic.
