The confluence of the Lahn and Rhine. Today, the Lahn is only a recreational boating waterway.

Unfortunately, we were there too early and would have liked to have seen the witch tower and the city wall more closely.

The newest and largest church in the Protestant parish of Braubach is St. Mark's Church. It was completed in 1901 next to the parsonage, which had been built in 1884. When construction was almost finished, the tower collapsed, taking part of the gable wall and the left side wall with it. Only thanks to a generous donation from Berlin was the church able to be completed with a shortened tower. Only pictures remain to remind us of the original interior design of St. Mark's Church. The three stained-glass windows on the east side, depicting the birth, crucifixion, and ascension of Jesus, were completely destroyed in an air raid in 1945. An interior renovation from 1960 to 1964 profoundly altered the character of the space; it became more enclosed and spacious, but also more austere. In 1994, the confirmation room and the sacristy were completely redesigned; the "St. Mark's Hall" now also includes a kitchenette and a restroom, providing another meeting place for the congregation. In 2004, St. Mark's Church received three new stained-glass windows, designed by the Hanoverian artist Helge Michael Breig and produced by the Derix company. Like the old windows, they depict the Nativity, the Crucifixion, and the Ascension of Jesus. It was a particular joy for the congregation to have these colorful windows back after years of preparation, but also a significant financial undertaking. St. Mark's Church also houses an organ by the E. F. Walcker company, which, according to organ experts, beautifully embodies an important era in organ building.
