The Fuente del Río in Cabra, is a picturesque natural park considered the origin of the Río Cabra. The park combines the natural beauty of a karst spring with landscaped gardens and a diverse tree landscape. It was declared a “Sitio de Interés Natural” in 1929 and today offers recreational areas and picnic areas for visitors. The spring rises at the foot of the Sierra de Cabra, an area with high rainfall and calcareous rock that leads to the formation of such karst springs. The water flows through a series of waterfalls and artificial springs and supplies the entire municipality. The Fuente del Río is part of the “Ruta del Agua” in the Subbética Cordobesa and offers a harmonious interplay of nature and human design. The park is a popular place for locals and visitors who want to enjoy the tranquility and beauty of this unique place. A visit to the Fuente del Río offers the opportunity to experience the natural beauty of the region and explore the origins of the Río Cabra.

A very charming place that allows you to enjoy the walk in tranquility and solitude, since it is not usually very crowded. The climb to the viewpoint is quite uneven, so if you want something quieter or you go with children, I recommend walking alone the botanical trail, which also begins in the Santa Rita parking lot. But if you feel like going up to the viewpoint, you will not be disappointed - the views of the Sierra Subbética are worth the effort, from this highest point of the Sierra de la Cabrera (1085 m) you can enjoy views of the most emblematic places of the natural park, such as the Lapiaz de los Lanchares, the Picacho de la Sierra de Cabra, the Cerro del Lobatejo, the “Buitreras” and the Sierra de Alcaide.

View of the Malpasillo Dam on the Genil River on the outskirts of the town of Badolatosa. The slowing of the river creates a unique natural landscape and a habitat for wildlife. A great outdoor space for adventure.

Actually, it could be comfortably continued to priega de Córdoba in the direction of Granada, but this trip to the "eremita della virgen della sierra" is appealing, even if it means 500 meters more in altitude. It is said to be well worth seeing both for the view and as a spiritual place. In fact, this spectacular view makes up for the hardships, although they weren't bad at all. The road is not too steep with large hairpin bends and is well maintained and developed. And driving down was pure pleasure. Up by e-bike from the street about 30 minutes, down 10😊
