September 9, 2024, Gisesjön shelter, rest stop and swimming spot

This is a well equiped rest stop at lake Gisesjön, right by a parking spot. There is a shelter with an fireplace that has a chimney and is covered by the shelter roof, and there is firewood stored just outside the shelter. In front of the shelter are picnic tables. Behind the shelter, just up a small hill, is a handicap parking spot, a large outhouse, and some trash cans. Further up the hill is the normal parking spot as well as a lookout spot. Note that this is still part of the Nynäs nature reserve and that it is not permitted to camp here.

September 9, 2024, Björken shelter

The shelter at lake Björken is located at a lovely spot. The shelter itself is located at a shaded spot facing away from the water, but just north of the shelter is a small rocky headland with a nice fireplace and with a gorgeous view of the water. On the other side of the lake is a farm house with some horses grazing near the water. Other than that the lake seems to be surrounded by uninterrupted nature. In front of the shelter is another fireplace, and there is a supply of firewood as well as a cleaver to split the wood. There is a small outhouse near the shelter as well. The lake water is exceptionally clear looking, and it may be the clearest lake water I've seen in ages.

Seeing the previous photos, it seems that the place was renovated very recently (we went there in July 2024). Wonderful big windshelter, directly on the Sörmlandsleden. Very large barbecue area with large benches. The area around is wide and flat, perfect to pitch tents. There are also many blueberries during summer, a'd a lake nearby with planks to access the water.

Good place to stay overnight. Shelter, a good place for a tent if the shelter is fully occupied (the popular hike trail Sörmlandsleden passes here), a privy and a possibility to take a bath in the lake. And some hundred meters away a well with fresh water. Beautiful surroundings in the Henaredalens nature reserv.
