We couldn't find the cottage because there was a roadblock. Which was a real shame for the children, who, in their complete fantasy, suddenly had to walk on the asphalt in the blazing sun. Such a shame. Because the road from the beginning to the 2.5 kilometers is a dream.

The mill was built in 1630 and shortly afterwards accommodation for the caretaker family, a stable and a granary were added. It exploited the waters of the Lierza stream, the main tributary of the Soligo, at the foot of a 12-metre waterfall; it was decommissioned in 1953. At the end of the twentieth century, after experiencing years of degradation, the mill was purchased by the municipality of Refrontolo, which carried out a careful restoration and turned it into a milling museum as well as a venue for exhibitions, including in 2009, an important retrospective by the painter Angelo Lorenzon and, in winter, the annual International Nativity Exhibition. Very beautiful and evocative tour but interrupted by a landslide which prevents the circular tour!

Beautiful path, well maintained, with the magnificent stream with crystal clear water. You arrive at the Bosco delle Penne Mozze, inaugurated in 1972, a memorial to remember all the fallen Alpine soldiers born in the province of Treviso. Suggestive, panoramic place, excellent for reflecting on how many young people have lost their lives defending the homeland. Every time I visit these places, perhaps because I am a former Alpine lieutenant, I am moved.

A splendid walk suitable for anyone along the Rujo stream, with a thousand suggestive corners marked by waterfalls. From Cison there and back in less than three hours. At the end of the path you arrive at the Bosco delle Penne Mozze, shrine of the fallen Alpini.

Blue Grotto of Mel It is an arch carved into the rock with a waterfall that flows into clear natural basins and then continues the path giving rise to the Rui stream. Zumelle Castle, an ancient fortification that dominates the Piave Valley. The start of the route is near the Zumelle castle. It is the only castle in Val Belluna that survived the destruction by the Serenissima in the 1400s to ensure total control of the territory

On the road that leads from Rolle to nearby Arfanta, on the left, in a sort of natural amphitheater, you can see some singular artefacts, at the foot of a modest but spectacular waterfall. The spectacle is one that leaves you speechless and allows the observer to take a leap into the past: these are in fact the ancient wash houses and troughs of the town where the inhabitants met to do their laundry and water their livestock. The particular system of fountains and basins is fed thanks to the Rosada, i.e. the small stream which, descending from the mountain, then heads towards the Molinetto della Croda di Refrontolo. Once the center of village fervour, this place was about to be erased by the neglect of time. The renovation works that allow us to appreciate this glimpse of recent history today are in fact due to an intervention carried out between 2002 and 2004 thanks to the synergy of the Municipality, Comunità Montana delle Prealpi Trevigiane, Gal 3 and Fondazione Cassamarca. During the works, the old stone bridge that connected Rolle to Arfanta along what was the "Rosada municipal road" was also brought to light.

Unfortunately the water in the photos is not there, on the other hand there is a fabulous flowering of cyclamens below and above the Gor dea Cuna.

The region offers several charming waterfalls. Among the most popular are Molinetto della Croda, an ancient water mill with a scenic waterfall, and Gor della Cuna Waterfall, an unexpectedly wild gorge in the Prosecco Hills. You can also explore the Rujo Stream Waterfalls, known for its series of cascades and crystal-clear water.
Yes, the Molinetto della Croda is a prime example. This ancient water mill dates back to the sixteenth century, with its foundations resting directly on the bare rock. After extensive restoration, it's operational and offers a glimpse into rural history amidst a beautiful natural setting. Another interesting spot is the Washhouses and Rosada Waterfall, where you can see ancient wash houses and troughs fed by the Rosada stream.

The Rujo Stream Waterfalls also provides a splendid walk suitable for anyone, with many suggestive corners marked by cascades. The Washhouses and Rosada Waterfall is another accessible spot with historical interest.
The waterfalls are beautiful year-round, but spring and autumn often offer the most pleasant conditions for hiking and exploring. In spring, the water flow is typically robust due to snowmelt and rainfall, and the surrounding nature is vibrant. Autumn provides cooler temperatures and stunning fall foliage. Summer can be warm, but the waterfalls offer a refreshing escape. Winter visits are possible, but some paths might be slippery or less accessible.

For waterfall hikes, it's advisable to wear comfortable, sturdy hiking shoes with good grip, as paths can be uneven or wet. Layered clothing is recommended to adapt to changing temperatures, and a waterproof jacket can be useful, especially near the cascades. Don't forget sun protection, a hat, and plenty of water.
While not a 'hidden gem' in the sense of being completely unknown, the Pissol Waterfall is a beautiful karst spring that feeds the Rujo stream. It consists of a lower jump that flows year-round and an upper jump fed only during periods of greater rainfall, making it a unique natural feature worth discovering.
Visitors frequently appreciate the serene escapes and picturesque scenery offered by these waterfalls. Many highlight the unique blend of natural beauty with historical elements, such as the Molinetto della Croda. The opportunity for refreshing walks along streams with crystal-clear water and the unexpected wildness of places like Gor della Cuna are also highly valued by the komoot community.
