Not a particularly large waterfall, but visible from a characteristic shelter that overlooks the waterfall itself. It can be reached from Malga Prà via a path immersed in the woods. The trail is a bit challenging and has ropes in some places. Attention: the highlight is marked as mountain biking, but the waterfall can only be reached on foot!!!!

A foaming and thunderous waterfall cascades from the spring known as 'Gorgo Santo' (which can be visited a little further along, climbing the trail —> see related highlight). The small bridge actually spans two waterfalls, one upstream and one downstream. I recommend descending to the paved road below, on the border between the hamlets of Scalzeri and Longhi, for a spectacular view of the stream cascading through a series of rapid drops before flowing into the Astico River. I also recommend visiting this site after days of rain or when the snow has melted in the mountains, to see the water swollen and rushing!

The Rio Mous waterfalls are a series of cascades between the rocks and lush vegetation of the dense Gon Forest, along the picturesque trail connecting Folgaria to Guardia. The stream flows from Serrada to join the Rio Cavallo (Rosspach in Cimbrian). You cross a beautiful, ancient stone arch bridge, which can only be appreciated by venturing off-trail. Like any torrential waterfall, it's best seen after days of rain, to experience the full force of the water rather than the meagerness of a trickle.

The Hofental Waterfall is a spectacular thirty-meter waterfall, hidden in a rocky ravine. Around the corner from the beautiful trail that runs through the Gon Forest, you'll be amazed by the rush of water cascading through lush greenery in summer, or by a spectacular frozen landscape in winter! Like any torrential waterfall, it's best visited after a rainy period, to avoid the risk of finding only a trickle flowing. https://www.alpecimbra.it/it/scopri-l-alpe-cimbra/natura-e-cultura/la-cascata-dell-ofentol/74-2245.html

The Zambel Waterfall ('el Zambelòn' in the local dialect) is an enchanting natural setting: the stream plunges briskly between high rock walls into a natural pool; the cool, clear water flows into a clearing surrounded by greenery; the sun's rays often penetrate it, creating evocative beams of light and rainbows! It's naturally at its best after rainy days. It's also known as the Calliano Waterfall (name of the nearby town), the Rio Cavallo Waterfall (from the name of the stream and the valley of the same name), or the Rosspach/Rossbach Waterfall (the Cimbrian equivalent of the river): the watercourse was so named because it descended from Folgaria in a very winding and impetuous manner, like a restless colt. The waterfall is actually an ancient artificial dam, as evidenced by the stone blocks that compose it entirely, without the use of cement. In the 15th century, the left canal (above the greenhouse) was built for agricultural purposes and likely to fill the defensive moat of nearby Castel Pietra. In the 17th century, the right industrial canal ('roggia') was also built, descending to Calliano and flowing into the Adige River. Over the centuries, it has served to provide mechanical power to countless industrial and manufacturing activities (mills, sawmills, hammer mills, spinning mills). It can be reached from below, via an easy path from Calliano, or from above, via a short route equipped with ropes and steps. In summer, the site is quite popular for cooling off and sunbathing.

The Brazzavalle waterfall is a 30-meter drop from the Le Fratte stream, nestled in a picturesque and pristine environment, nestled and "hidden" among woods and rocks. Just above the waterfall, a suspended walkway has been installed, culminating in a transparent glass cube: from there, you can admire the cascading water, with the void beneath your feet; a dizzying and breathtaking sensation! The structure, called the "Glass Cube," opened in 2020, is 3 meters long and 80 cm wide. The EE trail that leads to the waterfall in about fifteen minutes can be slippery on wet ground, but ropes help with the more difficult sections.

The Brazzavalle Waterfall is a suggestive waterfall in the woods, about 30 meters high, in the Balasso area. Above the waterfall, at the jump, there is the Glass Cube, a cantilevered platform that allows you to admire the waterfall while observing the void below.

Among the most appreciated waterfalls are the Rio Mous Waterfalls, a series of cascades nestled in the Gon Forest, and the spectacular Hofentol Waterfall, a thirty-meter cascade hidden in a rocky ravine. Another favorite is Zambèl Waterfall, known for its natural pool and historical dam structure.
The waterfalls are particularly impressive after periods of heavy rain or during spring snowmelt, when the water volume is high, showcasing their full power. In summer, they offer a refreshing escape amidst lush greenery, while winter can transform them into stunning icy landscapes.
Many trails leading to the waterfalls are suitable for families, offering an opportunity to immerse yourselves in nature. The path to Zambèl Waterfall from Calliano, for instance, is described as an easy path. Always check specific trail conditions for difficulty and suitability for younger children.
The waterfalls are often integrated into beautiful hiking trails. For example, the Rio Mous Waterfalls are along a scenic route connecting Folgaria to Guardia, and the Hofentol Waterfall is just off a lovely trail through the Gon forest. Yes, the Glass Cube and Brazzavalle Waterfall offers a unique experience. Above the 30-meter Brazzavalle Waterfall, there's a cantilevered glass platform, the 'Glass Cube,' allowing you to admire the cascading water with a breathtaking view of the void below. The trail to it can be challenging with ropes in some sections.
The Zambèl Waterfall, also known as the Calliano Waterfall, is notable for its ancient artificial dam structure. This dam, built with stone blocks, has a history dating back to the 15th century, serving agricultural and industrial purposes over the centuries.
Terragnolo is renowned for its excursions on foot and mountain bike. Besides hiking, you can explore various running trails or enjoy road cycling routes through the picturesque valley.
Many trails in natural areas like Terragnolo are generally dog-friendly, but it's always advisable to keep dogs on a leash, especially near waterfalls and on popular paths, to ensure safety for both your pet and other visitors. Be mindful of slippery surfaces and steep sections.
Given that areas near waterfalls can be slippery and trails might be uneven, it's highly recommended to wear appropriate footwear with good grip. Depending on the season, layers of clothing are advisable, and rain gear might be useful, especially after rainfall when the waterfalls are at their best.
While specific parking details for each waterfall vary, many trailheads in the Terragnolo valley offer designated parking areas. It's best to check local signage or trail information for the specific waterfall you plan to visit to confirm parking availability.
The Terragnolo valley, being of fluvio-glacial origin, is rich in water features. While the main highlights are well-known, the dense forests and numerous streams mean there are many smaller, less-frequented cascades. Exploring the scenic paths, especially after rain, can lead you to discover your own hidden gems, like the series of cascades that make up the Rio Mous Waterfalls.
Gorgo Santo is a unique natural spring and cave system where rainwater and snowmelt from the Luserna Plateau emerge, sometimes as a foaming and thunderous waterfall. It's a fascinating geological site with local legends. To see a good flow of water, it's best visited after rainfall or snowmelt. The site includes two waterfalls and offers spectacular views from the paved road below.
