Niefernheimer Löcher Springs

Highlight • Natural Monument

One of what used to be several springs rises in a swampy spot in the woods between Niefernheim and Wachenheim. A carriage loaded with treasures is said to have once sunk here and to this day people are still looking for its traces in this enchanted place.

Mölsheimer Quellbach Nature Reserve

Highlight • Natural Monument

The Mölsheimer Quellbach has been running along a district road in a concrete trapezoidal profile for half a century. The sewer bed showed increasing damage that could only be repaired by expensive maintenance measures. As an alternative and sustainable solution, the OG Monsbach decided to renaturate the Quellbach and move it back to its original bed in the deepest part of the valley. The areas required for this could be made available after a land consolidation process.

This new route, designed to be close to nature, should not only offer undamaged overflow, but also experience and relaxation space close to the village. In addition, management restrictions for the adjacent vineyards had to be avoided and a pond had to be set up as a near-natural resting place with a retention function. When planning a number of additional restrictions, such as numerous crossings through dirt roads, a water pipe and the crossing of sewer structures had to be taken into account.

House of the German Wine Route

Highlight • Monument

This is the counterpart to the German Wine Gate in Schweigen, which marks the southern end of the German Wine Route. The building, based on a Roman fort, spans the street. In the building there is, among other things, a restaurant, a tourist information office and a large parking lot on the other side of the street.

There are also two Kneipp pools on the premises, one for the arms and another for the feet, including detailed instructions. We divided it into "before eating" and "after eating" and were amazed by the lasting effect.
