Ford Green Reed Bed

Highlight • Natural Monument

The Ford Green Reed Bed at the south end of the site is one of Stoke-on-Trent's two Sites of Special Scientific Interest.

It has been designated because large numbers of swallows gather there before leaving the country at the end of the summer.

Parkhall Lake and Waterfall

Highlight • Waterfall

Outdoor Snappr's tip is certainly accurate!

The moment I clapped eyes on the lake, I saw a very bold rat run in front of me to the shelter of the shrubbery.

If you visit the lake, check out the source of the brook too. A nice little walk which leads to Birch Wood if you want a detour.

Queen's Park, Longton

Highlight • Viewpoint

This has pretty much kept to the same plan as when it was officially opened for Queen Victoria's Jubilee.

It has an icecream van by the play area every weekend. It has a skate board park, football fields, 2 large courts, outdoor gym, bowling greens, table tennis, bandstand and LOTS of friendly resident squirrels.

Come with a frisbee, picnic and change for a Mr Whippy and you are in for a nice family day out. (They are currently putting a tea room in too which should be operational by summertime.)
