In the heart of Rocroi, on Avenue du Général de Gaulle, stands an impressive monument commemorating the tragic losses of the First World War. The Mémorial de 14-18 was erected in 1923 in memory of the people of Rocroi who gave their lives for their country. At the center of the monument stands a bronze lion, powerful and vigilant, a symbol of courage and determination. Behind the lion rises an obelisk engraved with the names of the fallen, a sober yet poignant testament to their sacrifice. The inscription reads: "Rocroi à ses enfants morts pour la patrie 1914-1918" (Rocroi to its dead children for the fatherland 1914-1918), a tribute that reflects the city's collective grief and pride.

The Pont de France in Rocroi is a historic passageway that forms part of the town's fortifications. This stone bridge, located on the northern side of Rocroi, spans a former moat and connects the town to its outer defenses facing France. Its name refers to Rocroi's strategic location as a border town between France and the Southern Netherlands, symbolizing access to French territory. During the Battle of Rocroi in 1643, this passageway played a crucial role in the troop movements of the French army led by the young Duke of Enghien.

Rocroi is a charming town in the French Ardennes, known for its unique star-shaped fortification structure dating back to the 16th century. By order of King Henry II, Rocroi was fortified as a strategic stronghold against Spanish influence, which later proved its worth during the Battle of Rocroi in 1643, a decisive French victory in the Thirty Years' War. The town is distinguished by its radial layout, with ten streets radiating from the central square, and, along with Palmanova in Italy, is one of the few European towns to have completely preserved this military architecture. Today, Rocroi is a protected heritage town, beloved for its historic charm, walking trails along the ramparts, and local specialties such as Rocroy beer and cheese.
