At this location, you stand before the former monastery and study house of the Franciscan Friars Minor. It was intended as a training center for the Franciscans. After purchasing an 11-hectare plot of land in Vaalbeek, construction began on a large study house. The church was consecrated in 1949, and everything was completed in 1953. In 2012, the last friars left the monastery, and it was sold to a developer. Now, this site awaits a new purpose.

Here, a section of the Filosofendreef runs through a part of the forest where management works changed(d) the view. It was a forest of common pine with an understory of American oak. The latter was cut down for more variation. The so-called internal forest edge consists of, among other things, European bird cherry, hawthorn, medlar, wild apple, blackthorn and hazel. Part has been developed into heathland grassland where the heather and broom already show themselves beautifully. All information on site.
