On the east side of Eindhoven lies the Karpendonkse Plas, a large city lake created in the 1950s by sand quarrying. Where sand was once extracted, you'll now find a diverse nature and recreation area. The lake is surrounded by walking and cycling paths and is a popular spot for those seeking peace and quiet, fishermen, and sports enthusiasts. In the morning and evening, a serene tranquility often reigns here, and you can spot numerous waterfowl, such as grebes, cormorants, and geese. In summer, the water sparkles in the sun, and along the banks you'll see flowers and reeds, giving the landscape a natural look. The Karpendonkse Plas also has cultural significance: annual events are held here, but nature prevails most of the time. Its location, close to the center of Eindhoven yet with an open and green atmosphere, makes it an ideal spot for a short walk or to escape the hustle and bustle of the city.

At the DAF Museum, you'll be amazed by everything. The ingenuity that characterizes DAF vehicles, from 1928 to the present, will captivate even the most inexperienced visitor. https://www.dafmuseum.nl/

If you like trucks and DAF, then this museum is highly recommended. You cannot park in front of the door, but there are plenty of parking spaces nearby.

Take your time, there is so much to see. And watch out for cyclists.

Judging by the cars and trucks that you see behind the windows on the Kanaaldijk, it should be worthwhile to visit the museum if you have a thing for DAF and/or older cars and it costs 12.5 Euro per adult. you are willing to do. You can still go there for a while for an exhibition with 'hidden treasures'.

The NRE site has a long history as a former gasworks site and has undergone several transformations since its founding in 1899. It owes its name to the Utilities Region Eindhoven, which operated there from 1989 to 2010. The municipality then purchased the site and transformed it into a creative urban neighborhood where work, living, and culture converge. The former main building still stands and is clearly visible from the street (on the Dommel River). The NRE site is home to design studios such as Bart Hess, Nul Zes, Alissa + Nienke, and Fabrique Ceramique. You'll also find the Erfgoedhuis Eindhoven, Stadslab Eindhoven, the cycling/eatery, workshop, and shop Cyklist, and the Fifth NRE restaurant (with a terrace, but be sure to check out the interior as well). https://www.thisiseindhoven.com/nl/werk-en-studeren/tech-en-maker-districts/nre-terrein

This monument was donated on behalf of the municipality of Eindhoven on the occasion of Daf's 75th anniversary. It is located in the Eindhoven canal, not far from the bridge. A little further to the center (a few tens of meters) you will see some artificial green oases in the canal where water birds can visit. There were two swans and a coot nesting. Back to the monument: it was installed in 2010, consists of concrete and metal and is by the artist Gijs van Bon, born in 1975, who is active in Eindhoven and is known for, among other things, abstract kinetic works of art and light art.
