When the forester and forestry scientist Otto Feucht (1879-1971) spoke in the lines quoted below of the 'evil signs of the times', we humans of the 21st century can certainly take his words as still relevant and to heart: „That respect and reverence for old trees have disappeared from us is an evil sign of the times. We only admire the great, the powerful, where we have created it ourselves, in the constructed, the made; but no longer in the grown, the become; only in the work of man, no longer in that of the creator.“ Perhaps such a forest nature trail can be of some help in this regard.

It's the perfect place to escape the stresses of everyday life. Today, the 2,519-hectare forest still offers ample space for recreation. The well-developed network of trails invites visitors to hike, run, ride horses, and cycle. In the picturesque restaurants and beer gardens along the paths, visitors experience a true connection with nature. The Königsforst is also one of Germany's largest nature reserves.

Perfect for running. The paths are wide and straight, without ruts or rocks. Ideal for running in regular running shoes. The signs and benches are in excellent condition. Most of the benches even have shelter. Unfortunately, I didn't notice any trash cans. It's absolutely beautiful here, and the paths offer plenty of options for different routes.

The summit is located in a quiet, wooded area and is rather unspectacularly marked – but there is a bench for a short break, and the surroundings invite you to linger.
