"From 1942/1943, around 20 Russian "Hiwis" (volunteers) or prisoners of war also served at the guns and wore their Russian grey-brown "drill" uniform. During the course of the war, a second battery ("Schulensee" battery) with 4x 12.8cm guns was built in Meimersdorf in order to be able to fight the enemy aircraft flying at ever greater altitudes. Thus, from 1943 onwards, there were two batteries in Meimersdorf serving independently of each other. There are no remains of the 12.8cm battery today, and details about the battery are still unknown."

It was one of the first anti-aircraft batteries to be built in the Kiel area and was equipped with four 8.8cm guns. The crew consisted of around 160 men, half of whom were naval helpers and the other half were soldiers of the Kriegsmarine. One of the command transmitters (BÜ) was Mr. Kühne, the food manufacturer. In 1941, according to former anti-aircraft helpers, there was a bomb hit in which several of the crew were killed. The four guns were equipped with an armored dome and camouflage net, which were connected to each other by deep, camouflaged trenches. Two professional musicians (a violinist from Berlin and an organist from Münster) provided musical variety in their free time."
