In memory of their fallen sons

The then forester couple Karl and Klara Kohl lost their two sons Ernst and Erich Kohl in the fighting of the First World War in 1915 and 1917. Since a visit to their sons' graves in Italy and France seemed unlikely due to the fighting and the unknown outcome of the war, they decided to create a private memorial in the forest above Niederaula. They placed a memorial stone and planted two oak trees on either side of the stone.
