THE CHURCH HAS BEEN REBUILT SEVERAL TIMES After the parish church of St. James became too small, the first major renovation took place in 1419. At that time, walls were moved. The tower received an octagonal pointed helmet, which is unique for the Vorarlberg region. The murals were created during this period. In the course of another renovation in 1774, the church interior was designed in the Baroque style and the passage under the church tower was walled up. The valuable frescoes fell into oblivion due to a white paint coating. Only one original of the Gothic pointed arch windows has been preserved in the sanctuary. Around 1890 the painter Josef Reich noticed the original wall painting. On display are the sudarium of Saint Veronica, the martyrdom of Saint Sebastian, the Madonna of the Mantle and Saint Martin on horseback.
