Le Don Hilton, or La Cauminne à Marie Best, is an 18th-century guardhouse and powder magazine located on the sea wall beside Le Chemin de L'Ouzière in Saint Peter, Jersey. It is also known as "the white cottage" because of its whitewashed walls and vaulting, and its distinctive appearance makes it an informal daytime landmark for sailors. (Admiralty Chart 1137 does not identify the building as a recognized maritime landmark.) Previous names of the building have included St. Peter's Guardhouse and Magazine, Middle Battery, and Powder Magazine. Today, the National Trust for Jersey, which owns the building, calls it Le Don Hilton. The National Trust rents it out for events such as weddings and overnight stays, but its facilities are minimal. With its sun-drenched headland and soft sandy beaches, Jersey's west coast offers some of the island's most enchanting spots. A long stretch of golden sand and views of the Atlantic make St. Ouen's Bay truly special. Source: https://www.jersey.com/things-to-do/points-of-interest/listings/st-ouens-bay/

The La Corbière Lighthouse is one of the most important landmarks on the Channel Island of Jersey. It is located on a tidal island off the coast and belongs to the parish of St. Brélade. It was named after the surrounding rocky and sparsely populated coastal landscape of La Corbière. Source: https://de.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Leuchtturm_von_La_Corbi%C3%A8re

The Yawning Kea
January 10, 2024, Kempt Tower

There are several of these old Martello Towers along this stretch of the bay, but this one is particularly well maintained and close to the main road.

The causeway can only be ridden at low tide and it may well be wet. A siren at the lighthouse sounds when the tide is turning and the causeway will become submerged again.
