An absolute must-see! It's a Rhine island, separated from the main channel by an old Rhine branch, and has held FFH/NATURA 2000 protected status since 2008. On the one hand, it's captivating with its floodplain character, featuring the overflow areas of the old Rhine branch, reed beds, and softwood floodplain forest of Canadian poplars, willows, and ash trees – I even found a genuine symphonic cypress. On the other hand, it boasts a meadow landscape with plant species typical of floodplain meadows, which are threatened with extinction and have therefore been replanted as part of a conservation project. Of course, you can't expect a profusion of blossoms in February. Nevertheless, I was thrilled.

The 3.60-meter-deep mulberry meadow fountain is of unknown age, but its superstructure has been renovated. Unfortunately, the benches were no longer there when we visited, so we couldn't take a break.
