A lovely little tucked away quarry which is great to have a dip mid run. The water is freezing though so bare that in mind! Great area for running and exploring the Presellis

Rosebush Quarry opened in 1842 alongside 3 neighbouring quarries. During its peak output in the last 30 years of the 19th century it employed 100 men. The quarry is now flooded and makes a good snack / drink break spot.

Slate was quarried in a small way at Bellstone Quarry from the 1820s, while the now flooded Rosebush Quarry was opened in 1842. At the peak of the boom years the quarries employed 100 men. Nowadays you will find some nice trails to walk among the heaps of slate, and a cool (or perhaps, cold) wild swimming spot.

Between the 12th and 16th centuries, this was the site of a Cistercian monastery. Today, the abbey's foundations are the only part of it still visible, but well worth taking a look at nonetheless.

If you're interested in settlements with long histories, Whitland has plenty of intrigue to offer. Originally a Cistercian abbey was here, which survived until Henry VIII's Dissolution and the ruins can still be seen to the north east of the town. In 930 AD, it's thought that the first ever Welsh assembly was held here, featuring a group of lawyers and church officials.
