The Black Horse is a tiny, traditional, two bar pub, that’s dog friendly and is set in the heart of Whitby’s old town

A short but sweet lane. features a museum dedicated to Captain Cook as well as a few decent pubs (the Green Dragon normally has a stunning choice of bottles, cans and kegs and the quirky den is ...pretty quirky) and eateries. Moutreys is a fave for no fuss Italian food.

Old town cobbled street charm. Definitely worth a visit to the Black horse pub for a pint and some Yapas (Yorkshire Tapas).

From the North Promenade, you can see the enormity of the North Sea and look down at the beach and the coastline in both directions - to the west towards Sandsend and to the east back to Whitby. It's a beautiful spot; I am sure many have envied those who live in Whitby to have this on their doorstep!

Some steep paths running down to the beach so be prepared.

The western end of the Promenade overlooks Upgang Beach towards Sandsend. One of the best British beaches for sure and during sunrise or sunset, the views and experiences are to die for.
