The group of mounds is a large cemetery from the 8th and 7th centuries BC. It is located in the area of the "Koberstadt". Due to the furnishings in the graves, it is referred to as the "Koberstadt culture". The burial mounds are still well preserved because they are protected in the forest and have not been affected by construction or agricultural work. Some mounds have been excavated and have shown some very elaborate interior structures made of stone or mound crowns with stone steles. In the Offenbach district there are another 40 groups of burial mounds with over 400 mounds.
