The origin of the term "Macinaie" has no certain scientific explanation. In 2012, however, dozens of millstones made of trachytic stone, probably dating back to the Middle Ages, were found in the highest part of the mountain, about three kilometers from the town; with a diameter of about 70/80 centimeters.
