An absolute showcase from the cycling city of Tübingen. The role models with their own cycle paths and cycle garages come from the Netherlands. Tübingen even has a cycle roundabout. The pirate playground (still under construction) fits in seamlessly under the cycle bridge. Chapeau 🎩👌

The Ann Arbor Bridge (formerly the West Cycle Bridge) provides a connection exclusively for cyclists between the Mühlbachäcker administrative center and Europastraße, which leads to the main train station. It spans the railway tracks, connects to a cycle roundabout on the Europastraße side at the edge of the park, and is linked to the Blue Ribbon cycle route. Together with the cycle tunnel through Schlossberg, the bridge forms a continuous north-south axis extending to the University Hospital Berg. The bridge is approximately 365 meters long, four meters wide, and eleven meters high at its highest point. For corrosion protection, the surface can be heated to 2-3 °C during freezing temperatures, thus eliminating the need for de-icing salt, which can damage the steel structure. This significantly extends the bridge's lifespan and ultimately reduces CO2 emissions. The bridge also provides protection from ice and snow during freezing conditions, thus reducing the need for snow removal services. The bridge will serve as a base for swings in the pirate-themed playground, which is yet to be rebuilt. The designated brackets are already visible on the underside of the bridge. The cycle bridge is part of an infrastructure initiative to close the gaps in the city center's cycle path network identified in the 2010 cycling concept. The cycling mecca of Copenhagen serves as a model for this initiative. Other components of the project include the "Blue Ribbon" cycle route, the East and Central cycle bridges, and the Lustnau pedestrian and cycle bridge. Construction was approved by the city council in 2019 and began in April 2022. The total cost is €16 million. The project received €7.3 million in funding from the Federal Ministry for Economic Affairs and Climate Action's National Climate Initiative under the "Climate Protection through Cycling" program, and €4 million from the Tübingen Regional Council through the Cycling and Pedestrian Program under the State Municipal Transport Financing Act. To ensure the cycle bridge is well integrated with the existing cycle network, cyclists have priority over motorists on the side of the government district and can continue their journey on spacious cycle lanes. .... Amazing bridge. In the Netherlands and Belgium, you can find such unusual bridges more often: for example, across a lake or as a treetop bridge.
