This rest stop invites us for a short break. Those who wish can, of course, also take a seat on the sun lounger standing right next to it.

Each of the small sacred monuments, which the hiker often encounters in the Eifel, be it a cross with or without the corpus of the crucified Christ, invites the passer-by to a short spiritual rest. Perhaps one or the other will be able to encounter God here in a short prayer. As a prerequisite for a completely different mystical experience of encountering God, beyond such a small sacred monument, Hape Kerkeling, who pilgrimed the Camino Frances in 2001, writes: "I am becoming freer from day to day (...) Through all the emotional frequencies, I have slowly tuned into one frequency and had a great reception. Total, serene emptiness is the state that creates a vacuum, which God can then relaxedly fill completely." (Hape Kerkeling in "Ich bin dann mal weg")

The bridge is now fully operational, including the installation of railings.

Anyone who takes a close look at the small religious monument found here will inevitably notice a skull affixed to the base. In our modern perception – shaped by adventure films and television – this symbol is primarily known as a flag on pirate ships. Brother Franziskus Joest explains the Christian background of this symbol in "The Time Is Fulfilled – The Gospel of Mark as a Year's Companion" as follows: "It is the head of Adam. According to an old legend, Golgotha [the site of Jesus' crucifixion] was the hill under which Adam had been buried since time immemorial. This is, of course, in no way historically verifiable, but it nevertheless contains a profound truth. For through the death of Jesus, humanity is redeemed, the curse of Adam and the separation from God are lifted, and sin, death, and the devil are defeated. In pictorial representations [often seen on icons of the Eastern Church depicting the crucifixion of Jesus], the blood flowing from the cross touches Adam's skull, thus indicating that he, too, shares in redemption, indeed, that all humanity, which has fallen in him, is raised up again through the cross."

Beautiful (not challenging) flow trail near the Frreilinger Lake.

A very beautiful swimming (reservoir) lake in the heart of the Eifel region. The lake itself isn't very large and can be circumnavigated quickly. The sunbathing lawn quickly fills up on summer days. There's a great lakeside bar, pedal boat rentals, and a designated area for dogs. From the lake, there are numerous options for all kinds of tours.
