Breathtaking views across to neighbouring islands & the mainland. It is possible to glimpse aurora from here - if conditions allow of course. There is still a small amount of light pollution but much less than the centre. A lovely friluftsliv park nearby, too.

Elverhøy Church is the new name of Tromsø Church, after it was relocated to this site in 1974. Originally built in 1803, it has been modified and moved several times to become what we know today.

A small but beautiful troll museum. You're given an information folder available in several languages.

Runs in the city don't get much more beautiful than the run along Kvaløyvegen on Tromsø's western waterfront. Road or trails, it's up to you but you'll be sure of glorious views across the water to Kvaløya's peaks.

Polarmuseum tells the story of the North Pole pioneers, with Roald Amundsen and Fridtjof Nansen, unknown to us (Belgium), at the head, but our fellow countryman Adrien de Gerlache from the Belgica expedition (1897-1899) is also mentioned - albeit only briefly. Furthermore, this museum also presents the hard life of Arctic fishermen, whale hunters and seal hunters on Svalbard (as the Norwegians call Spitsbergen). Stuffed specimens of seals, arctic foxes, polar bears, musk oxen, ... and a skeleton of a walrus - what a colossus - give an impression of the fauna (there doesn't seem to be much flora there) ... where hunting equipment, such as all kinds of traps, seal chopping sticks, harpoons and guns, ... can also be seen. The information boards are only in Norwegian, but at the reception you will receive an extensive booklet in English, German or French. It contained so much interesting information that I even copied the entire (24-page!) bundle.
